After spending the first 12 years of her career at two of Canada’s largest law firms, including as managing Partner of the Ottawa office, Debbie and a few of her colleagues decided there was a better way to help their clients. In 1997, they formed LaBarge Weinstein with the goal of providing pragmatic business law advice in a more efficient manner. They created a transactional firm that provides colleagues with the courage and flexibility to act in a business-minded manner in order to solve client’s problems.
Having taken the lead role on almost 200 Mergers & Acquisitions, clients rely on Debbie’s experience and strategic advice to guide them through the complex issues involved in selling and acquiring businesses. Debbie’s M&A transactions have including the sale of companies to Cisco, Ericsson, Microsoft, Blackberry, and Salesforce.com.
Currently, Debbie sits on the Board of Directors of Opentext Corporation (TSX and Nasdaq) and Dynex Power Inc. (TSXV), as well as for a variety of organizations including the Institute for Mental Health Research (Vice Chair), Ashbury College (former Chair) and Pallium Canada (Vice Chair).
