Business Development / Marketing Coordinator

LaBarge Weinstein is looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, and creative individual to take on the role of Business Development / Marketing Coordinator for our busy business law practice.  This position is a permanent part-time position located in our Ottawa office. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this position will work remotely initially.  Those wishing for alternate work arrangements are also encouraged to apply.

Reporting to the Director, Finance and Administration and with direction and assistance from the firm’s marketing committee, you will be leading the firm’s overall business development and marketing efforts. You will develop and implement strategies for all business development and marketing activities for the firm including:

  • Business Development– Seeking out and crafting various strategies for the team of lawyers, to include Digital, Advertising, Communications and Creative.
  • Market Research – assisting in the collection of market data from inside and outside of the firm that could be leveraged in the firm’s marketing activities or to help support and develop marketing plans and direction.
  • Web Presence – Creating and maintaining the online presence of the lawyers and the firm as a whole.
  • Event Planning and Execution – Channel development by building networks within the business community, seeking out and creating opportunities for, planning and management of the firm’s event and sponsorship activities.
  • Content Creation – writing and curating blog posts, maintenance, preparation, and timely distribution of content on the firm’s social media accounts including the distribution of newsletters, publications, speaking engagements, media mentions, community service involvement, news and other items.
  • Business Development Support – assisting individual lawyers in executing on their personal business development efforts and marketing activities.

As an ideal candidate you should have the following education, skills, and experience:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in marketing, communications, or a related discipline; a degree in business or commerce would also be considered with additional specialization or course work in marketing and communications.
  • Up to 7 years of marketing-related experience mainly in the B2B and referral marketing space.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with experience producing marketing materials – especially on digital media platforms (ex. WordPress, Mail Chimp, etc).
  • Multi-tasker, organized, self-disciplined and able to work autonomously and with minimal supervision.
  • A team player who is proactive, results-oriented and who thrives in a busy office environment.
  • Previous experience in a corporate law firm, and a strong understanding of business and the technology industry is considered an asset.

Corporate Securities Lawyer

LaBarge Weinstein LLP, one of Canada’s leading business law firms, is looking for a Corporate Securities Lawyer to join our busy practice.

In the position, you will provide advice and support to our public company clients on governance and public disclosure compliance issues as well as work on financings and merger and acquisition transactions.

A minimum of 2-5 years of solid public company, corporate finance and merger and acquisition experience is required.

Corporate Finance and M&A Lawyer

The Student Program at LaBarge Weinstein

LaBarge Weinstein is pleased to hire summer law students as well as articling students.

We offer our summer and articling students full exposure to virtually every aspect of our corporate and commercial practice, including securities, taxation, and licensing. Your involvement starts from the initial meeting with the client, through to completion of the engagement.

At LaBarge Weinstein, we don’t have a formal rotation system. Instead, students are given work from all areas of our practice. In addition, our open door policy and relaxed atmosphere make it easy for students to seek out work in areas that interest them.

In our Ottawa office, we follow the recruitment timelines for hiring second year summer law students and then recruit our articling students from those summer law students. Ottawa 2L recruitment generally takes place in January and February each year. In our Vancouver office, we participate in the recruitment process for second year summer students established by the Vancouver Bar Association and recruit these students as articling students. Vancouver 2L recruitment generally takes place in September each year.
