TechInsights and Chipworks combine to bolster technical intelligence and patent advisory services

Today, TechInsights and Chipworks announced the combination of their businesses which will create a global leader in advanced technology intelligence and technology founded patent advisory services.

Ownership interests are being pooled and the new company will operate under the TechInsights name. Together, the two companies count 37 of the 50 largest owners of US patents among their clients. The companies said the new combination will ensure that clients have access to technology intelligence and technology-based patent advice.

Terry Ludlow, founder and Chief Executive, and Julia Elvidge, President, of Chipworks will take senior positions within the combined TechInsights and Chipworks business, both reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of TechInsights, John Day, said a press release.

“TechInsights and Chipworks have long been leaders in the field – and I am privileged to have played a central role in the formation of both companies some twenty five years ago,” said a statement from Terry Ludlow. “I am delighted that the businesses have now been brought together so that a new business, combining the considerable strengths of both companies, is formed: it means that we will serve our clients at continually higher levels for the next twenty five years.”

LaBarge Weinstein acted as counsel to Chipworks with a team that includes Debbie Weinstein, Michael Sami and Sam Gregg-Wallace.
