Two Canadian Companies Selected for 500 Startups

Last week, 28 lucky companies started working as part of 500 Startups latest accelerator program. Having hosted seven sessions before, there are two major differences for the 8th batch of participants this time around. For starters, this program is based out of 500 Startups’ new San Francisco office. Secondly, this group is more diverse than ever with two companies hailing from Canada (yay!) and France, as well as startups from Spain, India, Jordan, Israel, Egypt, Brazil, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

According to 500 Startups, “Batch 8 is pretty eclectic, with companies that do everything from exclusive restaurant experiences to massage on demand and online rap battles.”

Based in Toronto, FameBit is “a marketplace that makes it easy for businesses to find, hire, and work with YouTube influencers for product and service endorsements.”1 VenueSpot is an online marketplace where venues bid to host your events. They are from Vancouver.

A big congratulations goes out to FameBit and VenueSpot! With over 1,000 applications, you should be very proud of this amazing accomplishment.
