Rockport Networks gets share of $45 million government investment in clean tech

The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, today announced an investment of over $39.6 million in 14 innovative clean technology projects across Canada.

Projects are funded through SDTC’s SD Tech Fund. This investment is part of the Government of Canada’s support of clean technology to diversify Canada’s economy, open access to new international markets, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create well-paying middle-class jobs for Canadians.

Among the recipients is Rockport Networks Inc., which will receive $4.635 million in funding. The company’s product introduces three key innovations to data center networking: direct server interconnection and the elimination of physical switches; the use of emerging photonic switching technology to route network traffic and advanced software and hardware control to manage the flow of data. The new technology will provide improved performance, increased reliability and scalability, and reduced electricity consumption and cooling requirements.

LaBarge Weinstein acted as counsel to Rockport with a team that included Randy Taylor and Kyle Lavender.
