International Startup Festival

Last week, Montréal, Québec hosted the fifth annual International Startup Festival at the beautiful Le Jardin des Écluses. This is a conference where thousands of new entrepreneurs from all over the world come to learn how to run a successful business.

Around 2,000 budding entrepreneurs attended the 2015 Startup Festival, making it a great success. The International Startup Festival offers countless opportunities to listen to keynote speakers, participate in how-to-sessions, speak with experienced  entrepreneurs, attract investors, check out the competition, and much more, in just three days!  Along with the classic events of a great business conference, the main concept of this conference is to teach new entrepreneurs through a festival-style atmosphere. This makes the conference personal and unique. Some interesting additions to StartupFest included food trucks, parties, musical performances, collaborative art walls, and contests with a judging panel of grandmothers. Most events took place in the Tent Village, inside of dozens of small tents, which was perfect for personal networking, face to face.

There were over 50 accomplished keynote speakers this year. Some of the headliners were David Lawee of Google Capital, Gilbert Rozon of Just for Laughs, Krishna Gade of Pinterest, David Segal of DAVIDs TEA, Matt  Switzer of Hootsuite, and Harley Finkelstein of Shopify. This was a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to learn what it takes to succeed. If that was not enough, over $200,000 worth of funding prizes were given away by StartupFest this year.
