Shane works with a broad range of clients including small companies, high technology startups, publicly listed companies and almost everything in between and has particular expertise in assisting small to medium cap TSX Venture Exchange listed issuers work through the complexities of life as a public company. He also regularly acts for venture capital, private equity and other institutional investors and lenders.
Shane advises clients on matters such as incorporation, day to day corporate and commercial matters, securities law, stock exchange compliance and corporate governance and clients benefit from his broad experience in public and private debt and equity financings and mergers and acquisitions.
Shane has received the designation of Certified Specialist (Corporate and Commercial Law). The Law Society of Upper Canada certifies only a small percentage of lawyers in Ontario as Specialists in 15 areas of law. The Certified Specialist Program incorporates superior standards and professional development requirements for lawyers in Ontario wishing to be certified.

- Capital Pool Company ?Qualifying Transactions? on the TSX Venture Exchange
- Acted for Tarquin Group Inc. (TSX V) when it acquired Dipix Technologies Inc.
- Acted for Skywire Software, LLC when it acquired Whitehill Technologies Inc.
- Acted for Firsthand Technologies when sold to Counterpath Corporation
- Acted for Dynex Power Inc. (TSX V) when Zhuzhou Times Electric Company (Hong Kong Exchange) acquired 75% of the issued and outstanding shares of Dynex
The majority of the clients Shane works with are located in Ottawa and Toronto, but he also works with clients located throughout Ontario including London, Kingston, Barrie and Midland and throughout the rest of Canada and the US including Boston, Texas, Delaware, Calgary, Halifax and Quebec.
Education
Shane articled with LaBarge Weinstein in 2000 and has practiced law with the firm since becoming a lawyer. Originally from just outside of Barrie, Ontario, Shane?s previous education includes a law degree from the University of Ottawa and a degree in Administrative and Commercial Studies from the University of Western Ontario.
Community Involvement
Shane has taught commercial law and business organizations courses at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Common Law and has spoken with respect to his areas of expertise before various groups including Young Inventors International and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
